DIRECTOR’S NOTES

Welcome to the 23rd year of Voices in the Mirror! The cast and I are humbled that you have come (or returned) to watch our weird senses of humor play out on stage. It’s a true delight to subject you to what they see, think, feel, and/or imagine about the world. I’m sure I say this every year, but Voices is just my favorite thing. Ever. I love love love getting to spend my afternoons with this stone cold group of weirdos playing around, laughing, and creating. They constantly surprise me, challenge me, and make me laugh so hard my strange bark-ish cough comes out (don’t worry - they did mock me for it). This show, and these actors, make me so proud, and I couldn’t imagine this time of year without them.

If you’ve been to Voices in the past, you might notice that the number of cast members is slightly smaller this year. While we did pause for a second in thinking about crafting an epic dance number with fewer people, I found that I love seeing all their faces in almost every skit. I - and you - get to spend more time with each of them, and that is a beautiful thing.

So enjoy! And as always, thank you to the one and only Wendy Poole. You da best, and we love you.
