Directors’ Notes

This has been an adventure! In a relatively short rehearsal period, we have put together our trimmed and trim version of A Christmas Carol. It’s been fun. The ensemble cast has worked hard to create the characters and their story. They found the characters and made the scenes come to life, sometimes without some of Dickens’ words because of our edited script. I am grateful to them for their efforts, energy and the spirit they have brought to Scrooge’s tale

Lee’s and Karin’s classes have joined us in our final week of preparation after working on songs, characters and wandering the streets of Dickens’ London. They have added more energy to our venture, so watch out: the building may burst at its antiquated seams!

Thank you Joanna, Wendy, Karin and Lee for all you’ve put into this telling of a familiar tale. And thank you to my cast and then my LARGER cast and then my LARGEST cast for all you bring to the story.

Thank you, audience, for coming, and thanks to many of you for parenting a gaggle of creative actors! Enjoy the show.

This class and production is everything I think The Theater Project is and should be: collaboration, improvisation, flexibility, patience, and most importantly fun! I have had such a good time working with the middle school class and have been so delighted and impressed to see how all these groups of different ages - that have been rehearsing separately - have come together so smoothly and with so much enthusiasm in just a few short days. Does it get better than that? Thank you to everyone who has worked so hard to bring this production together!
