biographies

Asher Barreras (2nd Music Maestro) is from New Mexico, where he grew up playing jazz, classical, music theater and gospel music and later in Barcelona, Texas and New York City. He moved here a year ago where his mother Holly (Bird) was part of the Theater Project in the 70's when it was called Young Peoples Theater with Al Miller.

Kevin Calderwood (Reverend Buckminster) met his wife at the Theater Project and they now raise two girls together in Brunswick.  Outside of work as an IT professional in Portland, he enjoys coaching and performing in the local community.

Ken Darby (Chorus) is a retired social worker who resides in Bath, ME and works part time at L. L. Bean in Freeport. “Lizzie Bright…” is his first ingress to the magical world of community theatre!

Marty Fehsenfeld (Mrs.Cobb)  is a proud Bath resident with many addresses  from North to South. She thanks Theater Project for the chance of a long lifetime to play Mrs Cobb who is more thunder than lightning’

James Ford (Reverend Griffin) is a special education teacher in Portland. He serves on the board of Mid Coast Hunger and on the Education Committee of the Abyssinian Meeting House. He lives in Brunswick with his Linda Ashe-Ford, wife of 37 years.

Ian Horch (Turner Buckminster III) is thrilled to be in this Theater Project production of Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy. He has had several roles in previous Theater Project productions, including Friar Tuck in Robin Hood, and Tweeta in The Humor Games. Ian is in 7th grade at Harpswell Coastal Academy, and he enjoys practicing martial arts, performing magic, and playing piano and trumpet. Ian is also an amateur myrmecologist, having fallen in love with ants when he was 10.

Sam Kilbourn (Deacon Hurd) is a physical comedy performer and the occasional actor who likes being heard but is not a deacon; he nevertheless does good deeds every weekday.

Al Miller (Sheriff) has been involved with The Theater Project since his inception and once upon a time was a clown with the director of Lizzie Bright. Al continues to seek gainful employment to no avail.

Siham Mohamed (Lizzie Bright Griffin) who plays Lizzie Bright Griffin is very into acting and plays. She has been in 9 productions with Freeport theater programs. This is her first time acting in a Theater Project production, and hopefully not her last. She is enjoying one of her first lead roles.

Farley Ordway (Abbie Tripp) 8 years old from Freeport, she is in 3rd grade at Mast Landing School. This is her first play and she is loving it!

Jean Seton Shaw (Chorus) is delighted to be back at the Theater Project and grateful to be singing these old hymns!

Putnam Smith (Maestro) is a nationally touring singer/songwriter, who has performed in more than 40 states around the country.  He has taught various theater camps here at TTP, and directed Caldron Bubble with the Young Company last year.  Other theater credits include: in Maine: Theater at Monmouth, Penobscot Theatre, Ten Bucks Theater; in NYC: Metropolitan Playhouse, Inverse Theater, Pilot House. 

Nat Warren-White (Director) has been working and playing with the Theater Project since the 1970s when he directed shows with the Young People’s Theater and helped start the Summer Theater Project at the old UU Church.  He is thrilled to be back in the fold helping to bring Lizzie Bright Griffin and Turner Ernest Buckminster and their important story to life here on School Street with this wonderful cast and crew.

Sam Walker (Bobby Tripp) is a 9 year old from Freeport Maine. Sam has been participating in plays for a couple years. Some recent plays he has participated in are, Beauty and The Beast, The Little Mermaid and Shrek. In addition to acting in plays Sam enjoys playing seasonal sports like baseball, soccer and currently hockey. 

Gabe Tower (Willis Hurd) is a 7th grader at Brunswick Junior High School. Gabe’s interest in theater began with his participation in Missoula Children’s Theater productions of “Blackbeard the Pirate” and “Robin Hood” Gabe also has had roles in the Maine Youth Theater production of “Honk” and “The Point”. Gabe became involved with the The Theater Project though their workshops and summer camps. He originated the role of Seth in “I cannot tell a lie at George Washington Elementary”. He has also been seen in the Theater Project productions of the “Humor Games” and “Robin Hood.” Gabe always comes prepared with a smile and a laugh.
